The Supplier Quality Assurance Team will coordinate resolution of supplier quality issues and disposition of defective material by working with the Supplier, Tesla Engineering Teams, Production, and Quality Assurance to achieve problem resolution from supplier, and communicate progress and results to our internal teams.
What You’ll Do
- Participate in industrialization related activities within the supply chain team.
- Work with cross-functional Teams (Quality, Design, Operations, Logistics, etc.) in regular meetings on trouble shooting and problem solving.
- Create and review Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) for accuracy and completeness of information (detailed description of issue), communicate the issue directly with the suppliers to support effective and immediate issue containment led by the supplier at Tesla and at supplier’s facilities. Continue with driving and monitoring the following problem-solving process. Escalate internally and at the supplier as required
- Coordinate return of samples to supplier for failure analysis, measurement at Tesla, or collection of additional information as required.
- Perform additional defect analysis utilizing basic metrology equipment, coordinate specialized testing, and communicate results with internal teams and supplier.
- Work with quality, manufacturing, production control and logistics to keep SCARs updated with defect part count and costs.
- Manage sample parts and coordinates line trials with internal teams for all SCAR related actions
- Manage supplier liaisons/representatives at Tesla, coordinate their individual support activities, establish priorities based on build plan and business needs
- Disposition of suspect single components based on cross-functional decision making.
- Support Logistics / Production Control to quarantine all defective material, return to vendor or scrap material. Support in recovering costs within the chargeback process.
- Enforce Tesla and industry compliance principles, quality standards, procedures, and ethics.
What You’ll Bring
- Basic computer skills: Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 3+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing company as part of quality or manufacturing, technician level
- Skills in problem solving
- Knowledge of Quality tools
- Experience in Quality Systems is a plus
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Lean Manufacturing, and how to apply these skills to improve quality, capacity, and reduce cost.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus
- Leadership abilities.
- Previous experience working with metrology equipment and performing part defect analysis.
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities.
- Proven results in meeting customer requirements and expectations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers and other functional areas.
- Strong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner.
- Effective communication internally and with suppliers.
- Working in shifts (early, late, night)
